Gumis
Born: August 2000
Died: May 6, 2009
I rescued Gumis back in 2002 he was roaming around my friend's house up in University Blvd Orlando FL, so I took him in, I took him directly to the vet and I was told he was 1 to 2 years old, he had been neutered and declawed. Which I think it's just cruel to dispose of a cat outdoors without any claws. Beside of that being cruel in itself. Anyways Gumis was a extremely affectionate and very tolerant, friendly indoor and outdoor cat, he would always roll for him to have his belly rubbed, he always came to my lap to be loved on, he loved to sleep with me on the pillow, he was such a great cat, this past Monday I took him for his 6 month check up at Banfield and on tuesday he presented breathing problems, my brother rushed him to the emergency pet vet's where he was stabilized he was given a shoot of cortisone, he was X-Rayed and my brother was told he had an enlarged heart, he would recommend to have Vet do an ultrasound to viewed by a specialist, on Wed first thing in the morning I took him to another Vet closer to my house because he never liked being in the car, the new vet examined Gumis and did not hear Gumis having any heart murmurs or any abnormal heart rhythms, nevertheless he gave Gumis another cortisone shoot, he was breathing a bit better and he was given an ECG Electrocardiogram to see why he was having such a hard time breathing, I took him home, I tried to make him as confortable as possible. I went to work late, right about 9:30pm he started having issues breathing again. My brother took him to the Emergency Vets and I met him there, When he arrived Gumis had just taken his last breath not even 30 seconds pulling into the parking of the EMV I took him and ran and beg for them to try revive him, it was too late. I never saw him alive again. It breaks my heart, I think his death had to do with his visit at the Banfield visit since he had not presented any symptoms before Monday. So for all the people out there be very careful I think Vaccines do more harm than good. Neither doctor could tell me what went wrong. Money was not an issue, I loved Gumis so much until the last second of his life, he was spoiled rotten. I have such great memories of him.
