Alex

My sweet boy, Alex, died on Friday, October 13, 2006 after getting hit by a car. Somehow he managed to crawl under the porch and lay down, which is where I found him when I got home from work.

My heart is absolutely crushed. I only had Alex for a little over a year, but he was the sweetest, silliest and most adorable cat. Always up for playing, he made me laugh so much. He truly was my best friend.

Finding Alex under the porch last week was the most heartbroken I've ever been over a pet. He looked so scared and in pain, and I can only hope he didn't suffer too much. My husband and I buried him in the backyard, and I wrote a little epitaph on a concrete block for him.

To Alex, wherever you are, you were one loved kitty. I will always remember you purring next to me on the couch, how you loved to bite my hands when we played, and when I would put you in bed with me at midnight, you'd sleep on my pillow until 6 in the morning.

I will never forget you. I miss you already. Love you, buddy. I will never be the same.
