Breaux Cephus

Oh Breaux cat how I would love to hold you now and hear your motor running. You would purr so loud when I would hold you and rock you in my arms. Sometimes you would bite me but it was a playful bite and I knew it meant you loved me.

Fifteen years ago we went to the animal shelter to look around. There was a litter of kittens that had been tossed over the fence earlier that day and we decided to look at them. Your Daddy said for me to rattle the door and the first one there could go home with us. You won the race to the door my Breaux and our hearts. The cute little fellow that had a tail much to long for his tiny body. We took you home to our senior dog Charley and he loved you instantly. The two of you were buddies but Charley went to the bridge four months after you came along.

You spent endless hours being the “great hunter”. A lizard never had a chance in our yard. You would peep from behind trees, stand on your hind legs and attack me when I come into your hunting area. It was a great game that we played. You would sleep in the bathroom sink, drink water from the faucet and act silly most of the time.

The last year and a half of your life was no fun for you. Cancer took over your beautiful body. You lived full time on the sun porch and oh how you wanted to go hunting. You would cry to go out so I would take you out in my arms and let you sniff and look at the flowers, bees and watch the squirrels in the trees. You knew that you were wasting away but you still had the bright eyes and purred when I held you.

Through the years you helped raise four more dogs and you got in a good swat on their rears every chance you got. They all loved and respected you. Your brother Shadeaux dog went on to The Bridge before you and I know he is taking care of you now, as will your brother dog Charley

Please be happy my Breaux and remember that Mom loves you. There will never be another cat to love me like you did or another cat that I will love like I love you. Rest now my sweet baby boy..................................
