Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am the birds that sing
I am in each gentle thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there. I did not die.
Author: Mary E. Frye (formerly attributed to Native American sources).

If it should be that I
grow weak
and pain should keep me from my sleep.
Then you must do what must be done,
for this last battle cannot be won.
You will be sad, I understand.
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest,
your love for me must stand the test.
We've had so many happy years,
what is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so.
The time has come, please let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend
and please stay with me until the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me,
until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time that you will see,
the kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
from pain and suffering I've been saved.
Please do not grieve it must be you
who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years.
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.

What Is A Cat?
Gentle eyes
that see so much,
paws that have
the quiet touch.
Purrs to signal
"all is well"
and show more love
than words can tell.
Graceful movements
touched with pride,
a calming presence
by our side.
A friendship
that will last and grow,
small wonder
why we love them so.

To Love Again
Oh
what unhappy twist of fate
Has brought you homeless to my gate,
The gate where once another stood
To beg for shelter warmth and food?
For from that day I ceased to be
The master of my destiny,
While she, with purr and velvet paw
Became within my house the law.
She scratched the furniture and shed
And claimed the middle of my bed,
She ruled in arrogance and pride
And broke my heart the day she died.
So if you really think, oh cat
I'd willingly relive all that,
Because you come forlorn and thin
Well don't just stand there - come on in!

Where To Bury A Dog
There are various places within which a dog
may be buried. We are thinking now of a setter, whose coat was flame in the
sunshine, and who, so far as we are aware, never entertained a mean or an
unworthy thought. This setter is buried beneath a cherry tree, under four feet
of garden loam, and at its proper season the cherry strews petals on the green
lawn of his grave. Beneath a cherry tree, or an apple, or any flowering shrub
of the garden, is an excellent place to bury a good dog. Beneath such trees,
such shrubs, he slept in the drowsy summer, or gnawed at a flavorous bone, or
lifted head to challenge some strange intruder. These are good places, in life
or in death. Yet it is a small matter, and it touches sentiment more than
anything else.
For if the dog be well remembered, if
sometimes he leaps through your dreams actual as in life, eyes kindling,
questing, asking, laughing, begging, it matters not at all where that dog
sleeps at long and at last. On a hill where the wind is unrebuked and the trees
are roaring, or beside a stream he knew in puppyhood, or somewhere in the
flatness of a pasture land, where most exhilarating cattle graze. It is all one
to the dog, and all one to you, and nothing is gained, and nothing lost -- if
memory lives. But there is one best place to bury a dog. One place that is best
of all.
If you bury him in this spot, the secret of
which you must already have, he will come to you when you call -- come to you
over the grim, dim frontiers of death, and down the well-remembered path, and
to your side again. And though you call a dozen living dogs to heel they should
not growl at him, nor resent his coming, for he is yours and he belongs there.
People may scoff at you, who see no lightest
blade of grass bent by his footfall, who hear no whimper pitched too fine for
mere audition, people who may never really have had a dog. Smile at them then,
for you shall know something that is hidden from them, and which is well worth
the knowing.
The one best place to bury a good dog is in
the heart of his master.

Dogs In Heaven?
An old man and his dog were walking down
this dirt road with fences on both sides, they came to a gate in the fence and
looked in, it was nice grassy, woody areas, just what a 'huntin' dog and man
would like, but, it had a sign saying 'no trespassing' so they walked on. They
came to a beautiful gate with a person in white robes standing there.
"Welcome to Heaven" he said. The old man was happy and started in
with his dog following him. The gatekeeper stopped him. "Dogs aren't
allowed, I'm sorry but he can't come with you."
"What kind of Heaven won't allow dogs? If he can't come in, then I will
stay out with him. He's been my faithful companion all his life, I can't desert
him now."
"Suit yourself, but I have to warn you, the Devil's on this road and he'll
try to sweet talk you into his area, he'll promise you anything, but the dog
can't go there either. If you won't leave the dog, you'll spend Eternity on
this road."
So the old man and dog went on. They came to a rundown fence with a gap in it,
no gate, just a hole. Another old man was inside. "S'cuse me Sir, my dog
and I are getting mighty tired, mind if we come in and sit in the shade for
awhile?"
"Of course, there's some cold water under that tree over there. Make
yourselves comfortable"
"You're sure my dog can come in? The man down the road said dogs weren't
allowed anywhere."
"Would you come in if you had to leave the dog?"
"No sir, that's why I didn't go to Heaven, he said the dog couldn't come
in.
We'll be spending Eternity on this road, and a glass of cold water and some
shade would be mighty fine right about now. But, I won't come in if my buddy
here can't come too, and that's final."
The man smiled a big smile and said "Welcome to Heaven."
"You mean this is Heaven? Dogs ARE allowed? How come that fellow down the
road said they weren't?"
"That was the Devil and he gets all the people who are willing to give up
a life long companion for a comfortable place to stay. They soon find out their
mistake, but then it's too late. The dogs come here, the fickle people stay
there. GOD wouldn't allow dogs to be banned from Heaven. After all, HE created
them to be man's companions in life, why would he separate them in death?"

I ONLY WANTED YOU
They
say memories are golden
well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you,
a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
no one could ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway
and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven
and bring you back again.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

Tribute To A Best Friend
Sunlight
streams through window pane
unto a spot on the floor....
then I remember,
it's where you used to lie,
but now you are no more.
Our feet walk down a hall of carpet,
and muted echoes sound....
then I remember,
It's where your paws would joyously abound.
A voice is heard along the road,
and up beyond the hill,
then I remember it can't be yours....
your golden voice is still.
But I'll take that vacant spot of floor
and empty muted hall
and lay them with the absent voice
and unused dish along the wall.
I'll wrap these treasured memorials
in a blanket of my love
and keep them for my best friend
until we meet above.

GOODBYE
With
heavy hearts; and a tear in our eyes
after all these years; we must say goodbye
Please understand; we've done all we could
if there was anything we could do; you know we would
I'm sitting right here; gently rub your ears
while I talk to you softly; trying to hold back the tears
The memories you gave us; we'll never forget
especially the ones; of the day we all met
One last hug; and one last kiss
you have no idea; how much you'll be missed
To look into your eyes; this one last time
you tell me it's ok; you know it's your time
Close your eyes now; and go to sleep
we'll pray to the Lord; you're soul he'll keep
Go in peace now; our good friend
we'll stay right here with you; until the end
Dream of that special day and time
when we'll meet at the Bridge; and all will be fine
We'll run and play; side by side
with a soft warm feeling; deep down inside
Your memory will live on; in each one of us
you'll always be number 1; to all of us
Have a safe journey; through the night
I promise when you awake; you'll be in God's light
So with heavy hearts; and tears in our eyes
just for now my friend; we say goodbye

PRAYER FOR A SICK PET
Lord
take this pet if it be your will
she's so young and small and she's oh so ill
Don't let her suffer we ask you please
take this little soul and set our mind at ease
Guide her to Heaven where she'll be at home
where with all the other animals; she can play and roam
Playing all day up in the meadows above
cradled in Your arms covered with Your love
With no more aches and no more pains
she'll play in bright sunshine no more rain
We'll see her again we know we will
so take her Lord if it be your will

PRAYER FOR A SICK STRAY
A
four-legged friend has suddenly become ill
she's running a temperature and has a bad chill
She's roaming our streets with nowhere to stay
watch over her Lord please guide her my way
I'll take her and keep her; I'll make her well
she'll be fit as a fiddle; and loud as a bell
I promise to watch over her and give her a loving home
she'll be happy and safe; she won't have to roam
So this I ask of you; I beg of you; I pray
Lord watch over her and please; guide her my way

When The Time Comes
Lord,
when the time comes please help me be strong
my furry friend is sick; something's terribly wrong
The vet checked her over; there's nothing he can do
I'm afraid soon I'll be sending her; home to You
Please take her back home; on the wings of a dove
into Your loving arms; up in heaven above
Take her to a meadow; where she can play and run free
under bright sunlight; among the green grass and trees
She's been a part of my life now; for so many years
I'll miss her so much; my eyes are filling with tears
Please give me the courage; to tell her good-bye
as I know she'll watch over me; through her loving eyes
I'll never forget her; I'll see her one day
tell her we'll meet at the Bridge; then we'll go play
I'll cherish the memories; of the time we both had
they'll put a smile on my face; then I won't feel as bad
